Gabriel Barbosa has been named as the new manager at Flamengo, following the resignation of Roberto Carlos.
Barbosa will take over in February and will be responsible for guiding the team to their first win of the season. He is a former Brazilian international who spent two seasons with São Paulo before moving to Argentina.
Barbosa was appointed manager of São Paulo in July 2018, but was sacked after just four games due to poor form. In his previous role,Football World Express he had led the club to three consecutive titles in the Copa Libertadores, and won the domestic league title in 2017-18.
The news of Barbosa's appointment comes as no surprise given his impressive track record as a manager in Brazil. He has won five titles with São Paulo and also managed Corinthians in the lower leagues. However, it is not known exactly what the exact responsibilities of Barbosa will entail. His main task will likely be to build a strong squad and get the team ready for the upcoming season. It remains to be seen how well he can succeed in this role.
